This face jug with an ash glaze was created in 1971 by renowned potter Lanier Meaders, who is famous for revitalizing the
face-jug tradition learned from his father, Cheever Meaders. In 1893 Lanier's grandfather opened Meaders Pottery at Mossy
Creek in southern White County.
