Milk pitcher, Fulton County, 1880s, salt glaze outside, Albany slip inside. This piece is typical of late-nineteenth-century
wares made at Howell's Mills, now in northwest Atlanta. The Browns and other potters from Jugtown (on the Upson/Pike County
line) established this center during the Civil War. The dark drips are from kiln ceiling bricks corroded by salt-glazing.
