JN-4 "Jenny" Biplane
This JN-4 Jenny at Souther Field, circa 1918, bears military markings. Identical in most respects to the one assembled for
Charles Lindbergh in 1923, this plane has a gunner's position in the rear seat. The pilot's cockpit was in the rear seat in
Lindbergh's Jenny, which also came equipped with an extra twenty-gallon tank for gas. The plane's wooden frame was covered
with "doped" fabric (fabric treated with a tautening medium).
