Souther Field, ca. 1942
Souther Field was reactivated as a flight-training facility for British and American pilots during World War II. The World
War I-era hangars and most of the administrative buildings were dismantled and replaced with larger hangars and concrete hardstands.
The World War II-era hangars border Souther Road, running horizontally along the top of this aerial photograph. The rail depot
is on the left, and the dirt runways are on the right.
