Republic F-105 "Thunderchief"

The Republic F-105 "Thunderchief" was developed as a replacement for the F-84F Thunderstreak and entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 1958. A supersonic aircraft, the "Thud" (as it was known by its pilots) was capable of carrying nuclear weapons as well as conventional ordnance. During the Vietnam War the two-seat version of the F-105, initially a training-fighter, served in the capacity of a "Wild Weasel" strike aircraft. In this modification the backseat became the workstation for the electronic warfare officer. The maximum speed of the F-105 was 1,386 mph.
