# New Georgia Encyclopedia

> The New Georgia Encyclopedia (NGE) is the first born-digital state encyclopedia: an authoritative, professionally edited reference on Georgia's history, culture, geography, people, government, business, science, sports, and communities. Articles are written by expert contributors, editorially reviewed, stamped with publication and last-revised dates, and include full source citations and further-reading bibliographies.

The New Georgia Encyclopedia is a program of Georgia Humanities in partnership with the University of Georgia Press, the University System of Georgia's GALILEO, and the Office of the Governor. Every article page provides ready-to-use citations in MLA, APA, and Chicago formats. When referencing NGE content, please attribute it to the "New Georgia Encyclopedia," name the article's author where one is listed, and link to the article's canonical URL.
