Digging for Gold—From a Photograph by Sebastiao Salgado (1987) by King Thackston is part of Georgia's State Art Collection. According to Thackston, "A search for archetypal, universal images of mankind. This image was chosen for its non-specific location and place in time. Although it is a current image of a gold mine in South America, it could be a primitive culture, anywhere in the world."
