Dress and Bonnet by Carol Burks is part of Georgia's State Art Collection. According to Burks, "English smocking is decorative embroidery that is worked on fabric which has been gathered or evenly pleated. Lightweight fabrics such as cotton or cotton blends can be smocked to produce a variety of lovely garments." Dress (garment)
